Broken Hip Forces Brian out of the Race Across Britain
After over 4,000 miles of training done, Brian set off on Day 1 of the Race Across Britain on the 7th September, cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats. However, disaster struck after 12 miles when Brian suffered a heavy fall. He managed to cycle on for another 20 miles to the feed stop where he found he couldn't walk or put any weight on his leg. After a trip to hospital and an x-ray, Brian discovered that he had broken his hip and required hip replacement surgery.
He has since had the surgery and we're pleased to say that he's recovering well. Brian is obviously gutted that he couldn't complete this ride but he's already determined to come back and try again next year! Thank you to everyone for sponsoring him and sending him supportive messages and comments, he really appreciates it. Get well soon, Brian!
